Jayne Anne Philips is the author of six novels, including Night Watch, for which she won the 2024 Pulitzer Prize. A post civil war-era mother-daughter story set in a West Virginia mental asylum. Touching on PTSD and survival, the historic fiction is an emotional portrayal of personal and collective trauma. The author of five novels, she is a visiting lecturer at Boston University, and has taught at Harvard.
The recipient of Guggenheim, National Endowment for the Arts, Howard, Bunting, and Rockefeller Foundation Fellowships, Phillips is a member of the American Academy of Arts & Letters.
