In this 3-hr Stick welding workshop, you will learn studio and personal safety, how the welding the welding equipment functions and then practice your new skills. Stick welding is one of the most common types of arc welding, and is sometimes referred to as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW); it is also known as manual metal arc welding (MMA) or stick welding. Electric current is used to strike an arc between the base material and consumable electrode rod, which is made of steel and is covered with a flux that protects the weld area from oxidation and contamination by producing carbon dioxide (CO2) gas during the welding process. The electrode core itself acts as filler material, making a separate filler unnecessary.
Workshop also available on 2/23 and 3/22.
We also offer an 8 hour welding intensive and longer classes running 6 or 8 weeks. Metal casting, stone carving, jewelry making, mold making, and figure sculpture workshops are available. Custom workshops are available as well, including: wedding ring workshops, teen welding intensives, and more!
