Porter Square Books is delighted to welcome Rimi Chakraborty and Samantha Anderson for the release of Beyond Resilience to Rootsilience! This event will take place on Friday, March 8 at 7pm at Porter Square Books (25 White St. Cambridge, MA 02140).
“We are deluged with books, articles and fads on what to eat or not eat, what special breathing technique can get us on a rocket ship to nirvana or what hot new product we need to reach everlasting happiness. Rather than a ´one-size-fits-all´ approach, Beyond Resilience to Rootsilience is a leadership framework that offers today’s women leaders a tailored approach to sustainable well-being and success,” said Rimi Chakraborty, co-author.
“As women leaders face disproportionate rates of burnout, accelerated departures from the workforce, and a rising crisis of mental and physical health issues, Beyond Resilience to Rootsilience makes the timely case that resilience is not enough to deal with the stressors and challenges of today,” said Samantha Anderson, co-author.
Both women have lived the lessons of this book and have each delved into the subject of happiness, success and the ever-elusive work-life balance. Chakraborty, an MIT Sloan alum, left behind big deals, big titles and big salaries to make big impacts. She left the allure of fortune and fame to live with purpose and meaning, starting her own business in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean in the Azores, Portugal.
Anderson, a seasoned business leader and mother of six, faced alarming health issues and sought help from a half dozen doctors to treat multiple symptoms, yet none could get to the root cause. After discovering functional medicine, Anderson added a National Board of Health and Wellness coaching certification to her repertoire and now coaches women leaders using the framework she developed with Chakraborty.
Chakraborty and Anderson have coined a new word, "Rootsilience," which takes the notion of resilience a step further, and teaches readers how to be grounded, rooted and able to respond to stressors from a place of stability. Rootsilience means one is skillfully able to handle stressors without being stretched beyond one's emotional and physical limits.
