In our next edition of Artisan’s Asylum Inspiration Series, please join us in welcoming Milton Mizell, a designer/maker of modern exotic wood boxes inspired by his love of African patterns, motifs, fabrics, carvings and culture. Hear from Milton about his journey from musician, to graphic artist, to woodworker, and find out how his deep appreciation of African craftsmanship that informs his art today.
Milton will share details about his techniques to create deeply meaningful art that uses wood colors and figures as design elements to create African patterns inlaid and veneered to achieve a truly unique look. Using tools like SketchUp, this highly detailed type of craftsmaship is both challenging and rewarding.
We welcome artists and makers of all backgrounds to join us in this new virtual experience where we can spend time finding inspiration together and connecting on what is deeply meaningful to us all.
