Immersive theatrical dance revealing powerful unspoken truths about mothering, ancestry, and.. perimenopause.
An immersive theatrical dance, “I’ll Meet You There” is a mythological biography about a magical, extraordinary place which if described would sound like fiction. Choreographer Jessica Roseman’s solo concert reveals hidden truths about a mother’s capacity to produce life and thrive in Paradise. By resourcing memory and invoking affirmations, the piece explores themes of parenting, ancestry, privacy, and liberation, as well as perimenopause, stillbirth, and Black maternal health.
Roseman’s score incorporates vocalizing, clowning, and asking the audience questions about their viewing experience. Comfortably relatable and at times humorous, Roseman generates an authentic relationship with the audience by revealing new worlds.
Culminating from 6 months of residency work at the new Arrow Street Arts, this piece was supported by Cambridge Community Foundation’s Arrow Street Arts Fund and the Collective Futures Fund.
