Pump-up your bike tires, strap on your helmets, and get ready to ride with EF Education First and the City of Boston for Hub on Wheels, Mayor Walsh’s annual citywide ride. Greater Bostonians are encouraged to sign up and ride either the 10-mile “Downtown Loop” or 40-mile “Emerald Necklace Loop.” All proceeds from Hub on Wheels will support pediatric cancer research at Boston Children’s Hospital. Hub on Wheels is the closing event of Mayor Walsh’s weeklong Boston Social Fitness Festival, which begins on Monday, September 10 and ends on Sunday, September 16.
Participants will receive EF Travel Kits in their swag bags and end their rides with a festival on City Hall Plaza, where they can indulge in free burritos from Boloco, beverages from New Belgium Brewery, Larabars, and other treats. Guests will also enjoy interactive, cycling-related exhibits, games, and other activities across the plaza.
As owners and title sponsors of “America’s pro cycling team,” Team EF Education First – Drapac p/b Cannondale, EF will have several pro cyclists riding and taking photos with guests at the festival. Guests can meet Team Manager Jonathan Vaughters and Lawson Craddock, who completed 21 stages of the 2018 Tour de France after breaking his shoulder on the first day and raised more than $400,000 for the Hurricane Harvey-damaged velodrome where he learned how to ride. EF will also be hosting a silent auction to further benefit Boston Children’s Hospital with signed Team EF gear and a Cannondale bike among the auction items.
