Join Bostonomix reporter Asma Khalid and the 19th U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy to discuss how to negate the impact of loneliness on our health and the bottom line.
During his years as a clinician, the most common ailment that Dr. Vivek Murthy saw wasn’t heart disease or diabetes – it was loneliness.
Science shows us that loneliness takes more than just an emotional toll: low social connection is a risk factor for early death, comparable to smoking 15 cigarettes a day. It is also associated with a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia, depression, and anxiety.
In the workplace, many employees — and half of CEOs — report feeling lonely in their roles. This has been shown to reduce task performance, limit creativity, and, impairs decision making. Loneliness isn’t just bad for our health; it’s also bad for business.
Join us as we tackle the big question: how we might foster greater social connection at work to help both our hearts and our wallets?
This event is free and open to the public but advance registration is required.
