As we begin to break the winter freeze, let us get into the flow of the oncoming spring with some music old and new. The Horizon Ensemble is an orchestra that plays music by friends & music of history, and we'll be presenting music centered around the theme of "flow."
We'll start with More Old Wine in New Bottles by Gordon Jacob, a casting of four English folk songs reimagined for wind and brass instruments. Next, we'll fly through the airy notes of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Overture to The Magic Flute. Following is a premiere of our friend Marcea McGuire's new piece Flow, inspired by flowing air and poetry. We'll finish with Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3, nicknamed the "Scottish Symphony," inspired by his travels in the winds and waters of Scotland.
Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $20. We will collect donations in person at the church, or you can find us on Venmo at @HorizonEnsemble.
Masks are encouraged in the Church of the Covenant. This event is wheelchair-accessible, and there will be no bright or flashing lights. Please register on Eventbrite with your name and e-mail address: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/horizon-ensemble-flow-tickets-543237717637
If you can't make it in person, there will be a YouTube livestream:
