"Let some pleasing dream beguile all my fancies..."
As the autumn air breathes its way into our days and nights, come enjoy some chamber music centered around the idea of dreams: of fantasy, of children, of peace, and more. The Horizon Ensemble is an orchestra that plays music by friends & music of history, and this is our first chamber concert, featuring our members as soloists and chamber musicians!
In addition to music for solo piano, voice and piano, and chamber ensembles, we will also feature two pieces for small orchestra. William Grant Still's Mother and Child, for string orchestra, envelops us in maternal warmth and kindness. We end with the world premiere of Silent Tears, a new chamber orchestra work by Armenian-American composer Grigori Balasanyan. Depicting a mother and child in wartime, this poignant piece features sopranos Izzi Napoli and Dee Ypsilantis.
This is a pay-what-you-can concert, with a suggested donation of $20. We will collect donations in person at the concert, or you can find us on Venmo at @HorizonEnsemble.
This event is wheelchair accessible. No bright or flashing lights are allowed at this event. Please register with your name and e-mail address. If you can't make it in person, there is a YouTube livestream.
