"The day's grown old; the fainting sun has but a little way to run..."
As summer's flame burns its westward light, come enjoy serenades of revered places and nocturnal beauty. The Horizon Ensemble is an orchestra that plays music by friends & music of history. We'll highlight local Boston composers, American trailblazer Charles Ives, and the British composer Benjamin Britten.
A Serenade for Winds opens our program, written by four friends of the Horizon Ensemble: Amber Dai, Brian Daniel Ross, Enrique Hernández de Tejada III, and Julian Gau. Next: Charles Ives's Three Places in New England, a wild romp through three New England landmarks, including one in the Boston Public Garden! Last is Benjamin Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings, a menagerie of odes to the subtle graces of nighttime. This piece will feature tenor Felix Aguilar Tomlinson and horn player Jack Krugman.
This is a pay-what-you-can concert, with a suggested donation of $20. We will collect donations in person at the concert, or you can find us on Venmo at @HorizonEnsemble.
Note that the Church of the Covenant can be warm, so please dress accordingly. Water is the only drink allowed at this event.
This event is wheelchair accessible. No bright or flashing lights are allowed at this event. Please register with your name and e-mail address. If you can't make it in person, there is a YouTube livestream.
