Bag the two Osceolas on this short out and back hike. Since Tripoli rd. is closed in the winter, we will approach East Osceola from the north via the Greeley Pond trail. The trailhead is located on the Greeley Pond parking area off of the Kancamangus highway just before the hairpin turn, if you are approaching from the west. We will hike the Greeley pond trail for 1.3 miles until reaching a junction with the Mt. Osceola trail. We'll take this for 1.5 miles to east Osceola, then another mile to Mt. Osceola. We will retrace our steps back to the parking lot. The total length of this hike is 7.6 miles and should take 5-6 hours to complete. Mt. Osceola has an elevation of 4315' and East Osceola has an elevation of 4156'. Although this is a relatively easy to moderate hike, there is a steep section that will likely still be icy. Keep this in mind. Even though it is March 31st, we will still need traction.

Also have a headlamp with extra batteries. Check this list if you are unsure what to bring. https://sectionhiker.com/winter-day-hiking-gear-list/
