Mount Roberts (2,582 ft) and Mount Shaw (2,900 ft) are located in Moultonborough, NH in the Lakes Region Conservation Trust property, also known as the Castle in the Clouds estate. They are both part of the Ossipee Range and are two mountains on the 52 WAV list.

Trip details continued:


  • Hike about 3 miles to Mt. Roberts from parking lot
  • Hike about 4 miles to Mt. Shaw
  • Backtrack a little bit, and it's all downhill from there


    • Distance: 12.3 miles


    Elevation gain: 2,253 ft

    This is a long hike distance-wise, so please only sign up if you are prepared to hike all 12.3 miles.

    Required Gear:

  • Hiking boots/shoes (that you're prepared to wear even if they get wet)
  • Microspikes (it will be icy!)
  • Layered clothing system, hat, and gloves; no cotton (it is predicted to be belong freezing all day!)
  • Headlamp (the days are short and this is a long hike, so please be prepared!)
  • 2 liters of water or water treatment method
  • A map of this hikes (digital or paper)
  • Enough Snacks/Lunch to keep you from getting hangry and trying to eat your friends.
