A fresh face in the Boston music scene, Yağmur Soydemir is a concert flutist, studio recording artist, composer, and arranger from Ankara, Turkey. With a bachelor's degree from Nice Conservatory in France, she has won five awards in international solo flute and chamber music competitions throughout Europe. Furthermore, she has performed as a soloist and in more than twenty well-known symphony orchestras in Turkey, Europe, and the United States. A number of her arrangements were performed during the Turkey tour, and her orchestral arrangements were performed in Boston.
Registration is not required but the limited amount of seating is first come, first served. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Rabb Lecture Hall.
As a humanitarian activist, she volunteered to take part as a choir conductor in festivals for children in difficulties in Ankara, Turkey and performed at outreach concerts in Boston. With the "Turkish Jazz Talent of the Year Scholarship," the Jazz Society of Turkey honored her talent in 2020.
Currently, she is preparing to graduate from Berklee College of Music's professional diploma program, where she studies with a full tuition scholarship, majoring in contemporary writing and production and performance and is enrolled in Berklee's Global Jazz Institute master's degree program. As well as performing in live shows and outreach concerts around Boston, she composes, arranges orchestral music, and teaches private flute lessons.
Boston Public Library's Wednesday evening concerts are presented in partnership with Berklee College of Music, and all concerts in the series are sponsored by Bank of America.
