On October 23, Abe & Louie’s will welcome Erik Elliot, Master Sommelier and Estate Director of Heitz Cellar, to the Back Bay for a divine three-plus-course menu complemented by pours from the historic Napa Valley winery. Family owned since its founding in 1961, Heitz Cellar’s legacy runs deep as a winery legend that has helped shape the history of Napa Valley winemaking. In the late 1950s, pioneering vintner Joe Heitz ushered in Napa’s modern era with his iconic, globally celebrated wines. In 2018, Heitz Cellar entered an exciting new chapter as this rich legacy was passed into the hands of the Lawrence family, whose deep roots in agriculture and commitment to the same core values of fine winemaking made it a perfect match.
Hosted on the second level overlooking Boylston Street, Elliot will join Abe & Louie’s executive chef, Mark Mariano, in guiding oenophiles and epicures through an evening celebrating the best from land, sea and vine. During the reception, guests will be presented with a quintet of hors d’oeuvres like blue fin tuna tartare, braised short rib arancini, and “ham and cheese” lavash with the 2020 Ink Grade Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc. For the premier course, a chilled marinated Maine lobster is served with fork-crushed potatoes, celery branch and Castelfranco radicchio with caviar dressing alongside the 2019 Quartz Creek Vineyard Chardonnay. The entrée is a prime angus ribeye cap steak with creamed broccoli florets, roasted fall vegetable pave and sauce périgueux paired with a Heitz duo of the 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and 2015 Trailside Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The grand finale is a hazelnut financier with poached pear and vanilla ice cream with the Ink Grade Vineyard Port.
