Join us at BackRoom Boston for a performance project weaving together contemporary dance, traditional Ashkenazic music, feminism, & neo-Hasidism! Plus a Community Yiddish dance party!
This performance spans across generations & genres. It reaches back to Adhadar’s traditional, yiddish speaking great-grandparents, reclaiming cultures nearly destroyed by anti-semitism. nefesh lingers in the details of shuckling, vocal sliding, unmetered singing & krechtsing, that distinguish the eastern European Jewish soundscape. It foregrounds the labor, sensuality, & life-giving nourishment of sacred service, & the wisdom of the body, our wandering - navenaden - altar.
Reception with light bites & open bar follows the performance.
