When you're writing all alone, the solitude can be so delicious. But getting up to read your work, or even talking about it to others? Awkward. In this class, we'll talk about how to find confidence in our writer identities and tips to keep your cool while staying true to yourself under social pressure. You'll learn about how to describe your work, write the perfect author bio, performance and stage etiquette, and the importance of having a writing community. At the end of class, students will have the opportunity to practice these skills with a piece they've already written for a cross-class open mic!
Students will leave with an inside scoop on how to navigate the writing sphere and start owning their status as writers who are confident in showing their authentic selves and writing with the world. For writers age 13-18 ONLY
Students who need an MBTA pass to commute to class can request one on our website. Snacks, pens, notebooks, chromebooks (limited amount), and post-class pizza will be provided!
SPACE ACCESSIBILITY: Our space is fully ADA accessible with automatic door openers, ADA compliant restrooms, desk and table spacing, braille signage, and elevator.
