Glory Denied is a poignant saga of America during the Vietnam War, based on the true story of Colonel Jim Thompson, America’s longest-held prisoner of war. This profoundly moving story and soaring score by one of America’s leading classical voice composers tell Thompson’s story through younger and older versions of Thompson and his wife, Alyce, who traverse this complex emotional landscape through hope, despair, love, hate, courage, and forgiveness. Glory Denied will be sung in English with English supertitles.
Boston Conservatory is proud to present the East Coast premiere of this contemporary opera’s fully orchestrated version, and welcome composer Tom Cipullo to campus for the performances and to guest teach Boston Conservatory voice and opera students. Cipullo will also be holding a post-performance talkback with audience members after the Friday, December 6 performance.
AUDIENCE ADVISORY: This production is intended for mature audiences. It contains scenes with strong language and depictions of violence and mental illness, including post-traumatic stress disorder.
