Have you ever been inspired by the gnarled curves of a bare tree branch, the staccato hops of a bird, the way the wind rushes through the cattails? In this generative writing workshop, we'll channel that inspiration onto the page by writing concrete poetry: poetry that takes on the shape of its subject matter through visual design.
We'll discuss a couple of examples of nature-themed concrete poetry and related writing prompts and then go for a trail walk, noticing the shapes that surround us. Letting the prompts and what we see guide us, we'll spend time writing and sharing our own nature-inspired concrete poems. This workshop is open to beginners or experienced writers-all are welcome!
Please Note:
This is both an indoor and outdoor program; please dress accordingly. In the case of inclement weather, a make up date will be provided.
