Discover the beauty and ingenuity of American automotive design from the 1940s through the 1970s at "Future Retro: Drawings from the Great Age of American Automobiles," on display at Historic New England's Eustis Estate. The exhibition was organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and selected from the Jean S. and Frederic A. Sharf Collection.
The drawings in this exhibition showcase automobile design in the heyday of American manufacturing. Whether used to float innovations, showcase new developments, or promote the latest models, these seventy drawings are first and foremost terrific examples of graphic art. The exhibition includes concept and presentation drawings, and advertising artwork that highlights exterior features, sets cars in romantic and exotic locations, or focuses on the theme of a family vehicle. The exhibition surveys this rich graphic history of automotive art and provides a view onto a great age in car design.
The exhibition is on display Fridays through Sundays until May 13, 2018.
