Friday Night Talks begin at 7 pm Eastern, (8 Atlantic, 5 Mountain, 4 Pacific time)
The Shambhala teachings emphasize that warriorship is all about helping others, but what does that really mean?
In these challenging times practitioners feel torn between deep practice and social engagement, often polarized into generational camps. How do we find the way of compassion in our spiritual journeys, both personally and as a community, and how might that manifest in ways that do not deepen the divides of our world?
Judith Simmer-Brown, Ph.D., is Distinguished Professor of Contemplative and Religious Studies Emeritx at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, and Senior Advisor for the Naropa Compassion Initiative. She served as an acharya in Shambhala from 2000-2022. Her book, Dakini’s Warm Breath (Shambhala 2001), explores the feminine principle as it reveals itself in meditation practice and everyday life for women and men. She has also edited Meditation and the Classroom: Contemplative Pedagogy for Religious Studies (SUNY 2011). She and her husband, Richard, have two adult children and three grandchildren.
Friday Night Talks begin at 7 pm Eastern, (8 Atlantic, 5 Mountain, 4 Pacific time). All paid registrants receive a link to the zoom recording early the following week.
