We host an interactive lecture series taking place at Harvard University, weekly on Wednesday evenings (7 PM). During our spring seminar series, one PhD student presents current information and ongoing research within a given field, pausing for questions throughout. Our seminars are open to audience members of any age. Our seminars are open to audience members of any age, though a high school level of science education would be beneficial.
Cancer immunotherapy, the use of the immune system to fight cancer, has revolutionized treatment options for diseases such as advanced lung cancer and melanoma. Recently, cancer immunotherapy has obtained additional fame as former president Jimmy Carter is currently being treated with this cutting-edge therapy. In this talk, I will explain how cancer immunotherapy works, our current understanding of how cancer cells “escape” from cancer immunotherapy, and what we can do about it.
