HAPPY PRIDE! Join the BUDA Equity Committee for our upcoming session of buDEI pickup on Wednesday, June 22nd at Magazine Beach in Cambridge from 6pm - 8pm (plus post-game socializing).
We're excited to honor the history of Pride Month and celebrate together! All are welcome - members of the LGBTQ+ community & allies alike - and we encourage folks to wear their favorite rainbow gear to the game! 🙂
What is buDEI pickup?:
The BUDA Equity Committee will be hosting a series of free pickup games for people of all skill levels. We seek to foster a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment to play and learn Ultimate. In this series of games, we will experiment with different ways to eliminate gendered language in the sport, make play more equitable, and create a welcoming community for people of different races, genders, abilities, and backgrounds.
Who is this event for?:
We encourage players of all experience levels, backgrounds, and identities to join! This is perfect for both experienced players who want to play in a different setting than usual BUDA leagues, and for new players who want to try out Ultimate without the pressure of signing up for a whole league.
What can I expect at this pickup game?:
At this event, we will ask that participants match up against players of their similar skill or effort level, rather than by gender. There will be a post-game social at the fields to get to know each other better and discuss the event, BUDA, and equity in Ultimate.
How do I get to the field?:
What should I bring?:
Water, cleats (or sneakers), a white and a dark (or rainbow if you have it!) shirt, and anything else that you need to run around and play safely!
COVID-19 Safety:
There are currently no state or local COVID-related mandates in place, but players are welcome to wear masks or take whatever health precautions necessary to feel comfortable. For everyone’s safety, we advise players not to attend if they are experiencing symptoms, or are a close contact with someone who has recently tested positive for COVID-19.
Registration & Questions:
This event is free! Please register and fill out a waiver in advance to save time on the day of the event. You can check out the Facebook event page or contact us with any questions at [email protected].
