Start your summer off right at our annual Memorial Day Open House. This year, the MFA offers free admission—including access to the special exhibition “Hallyu! The Korean Wave”—for Massachusetts residents. Enjoy music, dance, art making, and more!

Light-Up Neon Art
10 am – 4pm (last entry 3:45 pm)
Get inspired by “Hallyu! The Korean Wave,” then stop by to create neon art that glows!
Photobooth
10 am – 4pm
Channel your favorite K-pop idol and strike a pose in our “Hallyu!” photo booth.
Free Guided Tours
10:30am, Noon, and 1:30pm
Wondering where to start your visit? Experience the Museum on a free 60-minute guided tour. Led by knowledgeable guides, look closely at artwork across the MFA’s collections. Learn more about old favorites and discover something new! Tours are free and registration is not required. Participants of all ages and experiences are welcome.
Taekwondo Demonstration
11:30am and 1pm
Enjoy an interactive demonstration by instructors and diverse members of all ages from Massachusetts State Taekwondo Association and US Tae Kwon Do Center . Catch performances of traditional taekwondo, basic movements, etiquette, advanced kicks, and even board-breaking.
K-Pop Random Play Dance
Noon and 2pm
Participate in an eclectic celebration of K-pop dance and music throughout the years. Everyone is welcome to join! Hosted by Jamie Wong, dancer and one of the founders of Kosmic, a Boston based K-Pop dance crew.
Kimchi Demo
1:15pm and 3pm
Check out a one-of-a-kind Kimchi demo by Joon Son, founder of Kimchipapi Kitchen in Allston and Chef KT Joo, formerly of Radius, Menton, and Kamakura.
CelloGayageum
2pm
CelloGayageum is an exceptional intercultural musical duo comprised of cellist Sol Daniel Kim and gayageum player Dayoung Yoon. Drawing inspiration from the “Pavillon of Unification” in Berlin, a city with a tragic history of war, division, and reunification, they have seamlessly blended the musical cultures and instruments of the cello and gayageum to create a harmonious symbiosis in both sound and style.
