Join Coro Allegro, Boston's LGBTQ+ and allied classical chorus to experience the breathtaking power of Zoltán Kodály’s Missa Brevis, which was composed amid the chaos of World War II when the composer sought refuge in Budapest as bombs rained down. We are delighted that organist Jerrick Cavagnaro will join us for the Missa Brevis, which is scored for chorus and organ. Also featured on the program: i see others like me, an evocative new commissioned work by the Cambodian-born, Western-educated composer, Bosba. Based on a haunting poem by Fanny Howe, the work will be premiered on October 21 by Coro Allegro at the Terezín Music Foundation Gala. Rich Campbell's Border addresses the worldwide migration crisis with a focus on the United States. It summons us to our collective conscience and represents a call for justice, empathy and compassion. The concert also includes the sheer beauty of Bruckner's Three Motets, affirming the humanity of us all. Come hear wondrous music influenced by tumultuous times.
