Saturday will be an absolutely perfect hiking day — sunny and mid-60s! We'll be hiking the Raymond trail to the beautiful summit of Pack Monadnock.
We'll be hiking at a moderate pace, stopping at some of the scenic outlooks and inviting forest clearings we see along the way. At one or two of these, we'll actually stop chatting and purposely soak in the forest, in silence. It's a rare experience for our ears to have no stimulus at all and is really quite healing.
We'll also take a full lunch break at the peak to enjoy ourselves and take in the sweeping foliage views.
If you are looking to go fast, not take your time enjoying the scenery, or go off on your own, this is not the hike for you!
Besides the views, this trail offers some rock scrambles and is supposed to be really fun! We'll be doing 1000ft of elevation gain over about 3 miles so it is somewhat steep. Hiking footwear with good traction is required for this trip. As far as conditioning goes, this is steep but we won't be going fast (I'm just getting back into hiking shape myself). That said, this shouldn't be your first hike unless you are already active otherwise.
Since we will be carpooling, we'll need you to stay home if you have a cough, fever, or other symptoms of covid or flu developing.
If you have any questions please drop them in the comments section and I'll get back to you. Should be a great day - can't wait!
