Young flamenco guitarist José del Tomate was born in Almería in the heart of a family of artists. His father, Tomatito, and his great-grandfather Miguel Fernández Cortés “El Tomate” have been his main inspiration, although he also recognizes strong influences from Sabicas, Paco de Lucía, and, particularly, his uncle “El Niño Miguel.”

Global Arts Live presents Flamenco Festival 2020 from March 15 to March 31 at three different venues across Boston. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, this year’s festival includes:

– Dance showcase Gala Flamenca on March 21 and 22 at Berklee Performance Center
– Flamenco innovator Manuel Liñán performing the Boston premiere of Baile de Autor on March 28 and 29 at The Huntington Avenue Theater
– Spanish quintet Los Aurora on March 31 at City Winery
