FISH FOOD is a coming of age story, and a ‘hilarious send-up of the luxury hospitality industry,’ set in Boston of the early ’90s.
Dad’s floating in the harbor, Nana’s back before a judge, and there’s a guy in his bedroom with a knife… but at least 20-year-old Joe Bacon has a job. He’s taking Room Service orders at the Plaza Court Hotel (and scuttling around the Financial District with unmarked bags of cash.) In the basement of this glamorous but faded establishment, Joe and his unhinged colleagues fend off the advances of celebrity takeover artist Avery Grand (bestselling author of “The Deal Is Everything.”) Mandela’s free and the Berlin Wall is down, but are the 80s really over? An eccentric ensemble comedy from Dorchester’s Avenue Stage.
