First Friday Open Mic with feature Alex Fam
Calling all singers (and people who love to listen to people sing)! Open Mic is a great way for singers to put themselves in front of a very supportive and fun crowd and to learn by watching other singers. Our host is the talented Jack Byrne and this months feature is Alex Fam. Socializing and sign-up start at 7:30 p.m. and the music begins at 8:00 p.m. All ages welcome! Acts range from singer-songwriters, instrumentalists, poets, beatboxers, and everything in between!
About Alex:
Alex Fam is a spirited folk singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose lyric-driven songs invite listeners on a journey of reflection and joy. Alex's songs draw inspiration from nature, self-reflection, and a sense of childlike wonder. She masterfully combines violin, ukulele, and vocal looping with soothing vocals. Alex is also a visual artist, primarily using the medium of collage. Alex’s second album, Real Life Magic, is accompanied by an original collage art exhibit. Alex is the 2022 recipient of the UU Mass Action “Ruth Rowan Award”, which is given to a person or group who is actively engaged in social justice and who motivates others to take action, as well, through music. When Alex is not writing and performing her original music, she helps children with communication disabilities learn to express themselves to their fullest potential.
