To mark LGBTQIA+ pride month, the Consulate General of Ireland in Boston is delighted to partner with the Boston Public Library on a special screening of the 2020 Irish film Dating Amber (2020 | Not Rated | 1 hour 32 minutes). Set in mid 1990s Ireland, Dating Amber is a comedy about two closeted queer school friends who start a pretend straight relationship in an effort to fit in with their peers. This hilarious and heartwarming coming of age story offers a compelling portrait of a distinctive moment in Irish LGBTQIA+ history following Ireland's 1993 decriminalization of homosexuality as the country advanced towards greater rights and equality for the LGBTQIA+ community.
