Join us for a screening of artist Dario Robleto’s film Ancient Beacons Long for Notice, followed by a conversation between Robleto and collaborator Jennifer Roberts.
In 1977, NASA launched two interstellar probes containing “Golden Records” that represented Earth’s life and cultures, intentionally edited to put humanity’s “best face forward.” Robleto’s film revisits the daunting task of representing all of humanity through a single object. What is our moral obligation to a full accounting of our actions—in perpetuity, off-planet, and to beings we have yet to confirm exist?
