Join Rebel Rebel and Field & Vine for a in-depth fermentation class. We'll take you through the joys of lacto-fermentation and alcoholic fermentation, presented through natural wine, sourdough bread, and homemade pickles. You'll also get some hands-on and eyes-on experience with fermentation from our experts.
Rebel Rebel sommelier Margot Mazur will take you through alcoholic fermentation, and what happens in the winemaking process. You'll taste a wine with us and see the differences and intricacies that time and terroir brings to wine. For the wine, grab a bottle of Chenin Blanc from your local wine store, or order from us at Rebel Rebel. Then, prepare for pickle making.
Field & Vine chef Andrew Brady will walk you through pickle making at home with a demo so you can follow along. If you want to follow along at home: 3 carrots, ginger, 10 garlic cloves, a white onion, limes, chili flakes, salt.
Finally, sourdough—Field & Vine's own Kat Bayle will talk through sourdough fermentation, and what you need to know when baking at home. She'll also give you a bread mixing demo, and her very own bread, sourdough pancake, and sourdough focaccia recipe.
After this class, you'll feel empowered and excited about natural wine, will be able to make your own pickles from scratch, and get your sourdough starter ready, and start making bread.
