The Feminine Empowerment Movement Slam's (FEMS) Finals stage will take place on the 22nd of October with doors at 6:30. This event will have spoken word artists competing in the ultimate slam of the FEMS tournament first year. We will be featuring local poets Melissa Lozada-Oliva, author of "Peluda", and Allison Truj, coach of the Emerson Slam Team.
Join us while we celebrate femininity and poetry at the First Parish Church in Harvard Square. Wheelchair entrance at Two Church Street, Cambridge. We aim to be radically inclusive and accessible, which means that this space is all ages, wheelchair accessible, and has gender neutral bathrooms. Tickets are $5 for youth at $10 for general admission.
FEMS is a grassroots resistance initiative committed to centering the feminine in artistic spaces. We seek to celebrate the voices of those who have not been previously given the space they deserve. This includes but is not limited to: queer femmes, GNC femmes, two spirit individuals, trans femmes, trans women, cis women, and all of the other identities feminine people hold at intersections. The first annual multi-day competition and festival will be held in Cambridge, MA the weekend of October 20-22nd, 2017. If you are interested in being a part of the workshops, open mics and other events happening that weekend register on our site below as a festival participant!
