Join us at Chestnut Hill Farm in Southborough for a fun and family-friendly outdoor skills workshop.
This program for all ages will introduce you to fire building without matches and how to use that fire to prepare some delicious winter treats. You’ll learn to start a fire using a variety of methods and materials, and also learn how to put that fire out completely when you’re done.
You will also take a leisurely guided walk along the beautiful rolling hills of Chestnut Hill Farm. Following the walk, you’ll learn to make hot rock cocoa and and enjoy that with traditional s’mores and “adult” s’mores, made with warmed brie cheese and crackers.
Pre-registration is required at Family Walk and Learn at Chestnut Hill Farm: Campfire Building & Cooking - The Trustees of Reservations
Please dress for the weather (including dressing in layers if it’s cold) and wear shoes appropriate for hiking on uneven and possibly frozen or muddy terrain.
Your guide will be Trustees ranger Bob, a naturalist, local scoutmaster and friendly guide devoted to sharing the wonders of the outdoors.
