How does technology influence our urban experience? If technology is a means to fulfill a human purpose, what happens when the rate of technological change moves faster than our ability to adapt our cities for the human experience? Whether by autonomous automobiles, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), smart buildings, or hyperloop tunnels, the urban landscape will undergo remarkable change. This month families will tour the exhibition Balancing Act: Urbanism & Emerging Technologies to see how new technologies are changing the city and get a window into what the future might hold, then design and build our own designs to address the future city.
This family program is designed for caregivers and children aged five to 13 years old. A maximum ratio of one adult per three children will be required. Tickets required for children and adults.
Family Design Day programs encourage children and adults to observe, explore, and design together. In these two-hour hands-on workshops, families are introduced to architecture and design through exhibit tours, walking tours, or slide shows and then complete a hands-on design activity. Architects and design educators lead the activities focused on the built environment of Boston and the world.
BSA Space is one block from South Station. Enter through the BSA Space entrance and go up the green staircase. The program begins promptly at start time.
