Join us in the Jackson Dance Lab on November 19 & 20, for an exciting program of works by students, faculty, and guest artists. Graduating dance minors, Erika Chen, Tharina Messeroux, and Elsa Rohm share choreographic capstone projects that examine family heritage and the ties that bind us together. Faculty artist Jenny Oliver presents her Boston-based company in a continuation of A Closer Look at Belonging. Faculty member Renata Celichowska is reconstructing a 2001 work entitled Kol Nidre, performed to a live string quartet composed by John Zorn. And guest artists, Ian Berg (artistic director of Subject:Matter), and Genevieve Du Paul (former demi-soloist with Grands Ballets Canadiens), are setting two works on our Tufts dancers. Berg brings his vibrant contemporary tap style to a new work created for 5 dancers. Du Paul is reconstructing an excerpt of Vaslav Nijinsky’s famous 1913 work for Igor Stravinsky’s riveting Sacre du Printemps (Rites of Spring).
