Join us for an evening of piano and oboe repertoire exploring the connections between music from around the world. The concert program includes one of the most famous and beautiful oboe chamber music pieces, “Three Romances for Oboe and Piano, Op. 94” by Robert Schumann. The program will also feature Sachiko Murata’s original composition “Sorrow Songs” which was originally written for orchestra, and was inspired by the musical score of a spiritual in the book “The Souls of Black Folk” by W.E.B. Du Bois.
CONNECTION presenters Kai-Ching Chang, piano and Sachiko Murata, oboe/composition are both from East Asia, and have shared the following message about their program:
“We both have always carried nostalgic feelings toward our home countries, and the feelings impacted us in many aspects as musicians and performers who have lived in Western World, the US. We would like to share with you our discoveries of the connections between western music which we adore and the music where we are from in the concert CONNECTION.“
