About the Class:
This workshop will introduce participants to the secrets of giving life to an object and turning it into a character. Participants will explore the expressive principles and acting techniques of performing with the tabletop puppets that Dream Tale Puppets often use in their shows.
This is an intermediate-level workshop, geared toward participants with some familiarity with puppetry, acting, or dance/movement. Although the class is focused on a specific style of puppetry, the workshop welcomes anyone interested in acquiring and broadening their puppetry performance skills in a supportive and detail-oriented environment. Actors, performance artists, puppeteers, theater students, teachers, and anyone interested in acting with tabletop puppets are welcome.
Open to adults and teens 16+
About the Instructor:
Dream Tale Puppets is a continuation of the Story and Puppet Time project, launched at the Cape Cod Children's Museum in April 2003. Jacek Zuzanski, the founder of Dream Tale Puppets, studied pantomime with Henryk Tomaszewski, acting with the actors of Grotowski’s Laboratorium Theater and Barba’s Odin Teatret. He has a master's degree in art from the State Puppetry Institute in Wrocław and a Certificate of Stage Directing from the Ministry of Culture and Art. Before coming to the US in 2001, he taught theater, designed and built puppets, and performed and directed in schools, community centers, and theaters in Poland and Germany. He continued his artistic and pedagogical work in the US, collaborating with schools and cultural centers, including Cape Cod Conservatory, Falmouth Academy, Polish Theater Institute, and Puppet Showplace Theater.
