In response to the Roe v Wade SCOTUS decision and other national events of the past weeks, the Bellforge Arts Center has announced a call for submissions to their art installation entitled Expression+Connection. Artists, writers, and the general public are invited to use a creative mode of expression to share their current feelings about recent events with the community, whatever those may be—in support, in commiseration, in hope, in caring, in grief. People may submit images of artwork, photos, short poems, etc. via a short form at https://bit.ly/ExpressionConnection. Submissions will be accepted through July 10, after which the Bellforge will put together a presentation of selected works to project and display inside the historic Chapel on the grounds of the former Medfield State Hospital.
July 15: 5:30-7:30pm Exhibition Opening Reception
· Expression+Connection art installation presentation with works projected inside the Chapel, accompanied by violinist Sylvia DiCrescentis from the Blackstone Valley String Quartet and spoken word artist LaPoetica
· Collaborative public art project: write your feelings on origami paper, fold into a butterfly (symbolic of young women coming of age), and attach to the strings hung in the Chapel to create a community-created art installation.
· Light refreshments will be provided thanks to the generosity of Brothers Marketplace and Whole Foods Market
Food and beverages available for purchase from Lumpia Bros Filipino food truck and Del’s Lemonade.
