Esplanade Pollinator BioBlitz

Discover and identify the pollinators of the Charles River Esplanade by taking part in the Esplanade Pollinator BioBlitz any time from July 19 to July 26. The Esplanade Pollinator BioBlitz encourages families and individuals to discover and document different species of pollinators they find on the Charles River Esplanade through the iNaturalist app or journaling.

The Esplanade provides a lush and diverse habitat for imperiled pollinators including native bees, butterflies, beetles, and hummingbirds. Without pollinators, we would not have as many beautiful plants and flowers blossoming along the Charles River.

iNaturalist is one of the world’s most popular nature apps where people identify and record plants and animals found in different environments across the world. Join the Esplanade Pollinator BioBlitz Project on iNaturalist at https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/esplanade-pollinator-bioblitz to record and share your observations with other members of the iNaturalist community.

Each participant in the Esplanade Pollinator BioBlitz will receive a virtual bioblitz packet that includes pollinator information, BioBlitz activities, instructions on how to use iNaturalist, and a map of the Esplanade.
