Run the Esplanade 5K Presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts on Sunday, August 29! Join up to a thousand of your fellow Esplanade-lovers and run the most popular running route in Greater Boston, kicking off at the iconic Hatch Memorial Shell.


This course takes an unparalleled riverfront route with both water and garden views set against the iconic backdrop of the Boston and Cambridge skylines. The finish line is perfectly photogenic, with passing sailboats on the Charles River.


Runners of all levels and abilities are encouraged to participate. Whether you are a competitive runner, or hoping to enjoy the course with your family, there is a wave in the race for you.


Proceeds from this race go directly to support the work of the Esplanade Association to revitalize and enhance the Charles River Esplanade, sustain its natural green space, and build community in the park by providing educational, cultural, and recreational programs for everyone.
