Recognized in the 2022, 2019 and 2017 DownBeat Critics’ Poll for ‘Rising Star – Guitar’, the quirky and unpredictable guitarist-composer-bandleader has earned critical acclaim for his work with Garrison Fewell’s Variable Density Orchestra, Charlie Kohlhase’s Explorer’s Club and Han Bennink, among many others.
His much-lauded quintet has been featured on NPR’s Fresh Air and in The Boston Globe, and is reinvented here for a special evening of originals and arrangements that will come to life at the hands of his equally deft collaborators.
The evening also features a high-energy opening set by an all-star ensemble from the Longy School of Music, where Mr. Hofbauer is the chair of the Jazz and Contempory Music Department.
