Over the course of their existence, the Boston Harbor Islands have served a variety of purposes for inhabitants of the Greater Boston area. Some communities have approached their relationship with the islands through the lens of reciprocity and communal use, while other communities have viewed the islands as places of boundless resources and spaces apart from the mainland. This presentation will explore the many historic uses of the Boston Harbor Islands and examine the role of environmental justice throughout their existence.
This program presented by the Boston Public Library and the National Park Service will happen over Zoom webinar. To attend, please register here.
