“Enlightenment/Re-Emergence” exhibit at the Beebe Estate Gallery, 235 West Foster Street, Melrose MA will feature local artists from Medford, Malden, Melrose, and other Boston’ suburbs.
Sponsored by Coffee Shop Artists and ArtsMedford exhibit will explore the concepts of re-emergence and enlightenment from different perspectives and in diverse media, including photography, collage, paint, and mixed media.
“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious”, wrote Carl Gustav Jung in his book "Psychology and Alchemy". Yet, it is artists’ intention that this show will bring the visitors a sense of enlightenment, joy, peace, and hope.
A dictionary definition of Enlightenment:” Nirvana, the beatitude that transcends the cycle of reincarnation; characterized by the extinction of desire and suffering and individual consciousness.”
The opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 4th. All are welcome and artists will be in attendance. The show will run from March 4th to March 26th, with gallery hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
About Coffee Shop Artists
Coffee Shop Artists, born in a coffee shop, includes artists from Malden, Medford, and Melrose. The group sponsors juried shows for local artists to exhibit their work while searching for new venues to display artists’ works.
About ArtsMedford
ArtsMedford recently changed its name from Medford Arts Center, Inc. The non-profit was incorporated in 2004 with a goal of supporting local artists through local events. Between 2011 and 2014, MACI had a storefront in Medford Square to let members showcase and sell their part. Again in 2017, MACI hosted another storefront in the Meadow Glen Mall before the transition to the large box stores occurred. The ArtsMedford mission is still to support local art and artists, but also to make art more accessible by bringing art programs to the community.
