Encore Dance Ensemble celebrates its tenth anniversary with a concert at Chelmsford Center for the Arts on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 7:30 PM. The performance will last about one and half hours followed by a reception in CCA’s café. Tickets Adult $15, Senior $10 and children under twelve $5. For more information or to purchase tickets through Brown Paper Tickets in advance, visit www.encoredanceensemble.com.
The program will include modern and jazz works inspired by the ups and downs of life including joys, sorrows, silliness, stresses, confusions, quiet moments and the adventures with friends who help carry us when we are down.
Encore members are thrilled to be celebrating ten years of creating and performing their original choreographies. Award winning dance educator Elaine Sisler co-founded Encore as a birthday gift to herself. She remembered, “On my 60th birthday, I vowed that I would start a dance company so that I would have the opportunity to perform again. I never expected it to last this long. Encore has been a dream come true.” Co-founder and lifelong dancer Ann Budner recalled, “After developing severe arthritis, I thought I would never dance again. Encore has not only helped me heal physically, but has been an incredible creative outlet in my life.”
Encore dancers demonstrate life-long learning and personal fulfillment through the art of dance. They have united to prove that there are no limitations except the ones we place upon ourselves. Current and former company members, all of whom will be participating in the show, are: Dorothy Anderson, Ann Budner, Paula Fiore, Patricia Koenitzer, Paula Rushboldt, Anne Schwartz, Elaine Sisler, and Christine Vozella.
This program is supported in part by a grant from the Acton-Boxborough and Chelmsford Cultural Councils, local agencies which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
