Are you looking to get your portfolio in top shape for the Spring 2025 CAA Portfolio Reviews? Or are you preparing to submit your work to a gallery, university or museum in the upcoming year?
Join Emily Belz for this two-session zoom workshop to learn the art of editing and sequencing your artwork for review.
In session one we will discuss strategies for artwork selection and how to put your pieces together into a thoughtful, engaging, and effective sequence.
In session two you will present your sequence to the group for feedback and critique.
About the instructor
Emily Belz is an independent photographer, educator, and curator based in Lincoln, MA. She is a place-based artist; her photographs focus on telling stories through the traces, objects, and slants of light that have been left behind. Belz has exhibited her photographs widely in both solo and group exhibitions at venues including the Griffin Museum of Photography, the Danforth Museum, the Newport Art Museum, and Gallery Kayafas.
Belz holds a BA in photography and art history from Hampshire College (1997); an MA in community-based art education from the Rhode Island School of Design (2009); and an MFA from the New Hampshire Institute of Art (2017). She teaches the Atelier portfolio building class at the Griffin Museum of Photography (Winchester, MA) and works privately with artists as a consultant and mentor. She specializes in reviewing and sequencing portfolios.
With 20+ years in the art world, Belz brings this experience to her role as juror for regional art shows, and as a reviewer for portfolio reviews. She enjoys curating exhibitions in collaboration with emerging artists in the Boston area.
