Join WBUR for a unique farmers market experience that will highlight the importance of growing local and the need for equitable access to food. WBUR environmental correspondent Barbara Moran will host a conversation exploring the importance of local food with Tamar Haspel, Washington Post columnist and author of “To Boldly Grow: Finding Joy, Adventure, and Dinner in Your Own Backyard,” Tamika R. Francis, founder, chief chef at Food & Folklore and Joy Gary, executive director of Boston Farms Community Land Trust. Local vendors from around New England will also be on hand for the event, which will feature a practical skills gardening demonstration led by Quontay Turner. Tamar Haspel will also be signing copies of "To Boldly Grow." This event is open to media. Event details are available here.
To complement the Eat Local event, WBUR has also kicked off a new FREE newsletter course called Cooked! that allows followers to know what food choices actually make an impact in New England and on climate change. Subscribers will get tips, recipes and more for making sustainable choices that work for them.
