The Dickens Festival Holiday Craft Fair is a beloved Braintree tradition held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. All Souls Church is transformed into a festive Victorian marketplace all decked out for the Christmas season. The Dickens Festival is a touchstone for the holidays that offers our community the gift of a traditional holiday experience filled with good cheer and good fun! This year will be our 30th Annual Dickens Festival and will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
The Dickens Festival is a unique entertainment and shopping experience with something for the young and young at heart. Admission is free and there are many things for sale. Be sure to visit Father Christmas (our Victorian Santa) for FREE. Bring your camera or cell phone. He will be seated in his big chair on the steps of our Marketplace near the Christmas tree or roaming about the festival. Father Christmas is great with persons of all ages and abilities.
Interact with costumed characters from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and join in singing with our carolers who gather several times throughout the day. Scrooge and the Ghost of Jacob Marley visit the halls. Shop at our Marketplaces where 27 of the best area artisans in Victorian costume sell their handcrafted goods. VOTE for your favorite Artisan Costume; the winner will receive a $30 gift card!
Take home an Apple Pie made in our church kitchen by the Baking Crew. Buy one to eat and one to freeze! Stock up on baked goods and take a chance on some fantastic raffles ... gift certificates and items donated by area merchants. Free cookies (limit two) for kids at the bake table.
When you come to the Festival, if you have a coat of any size looking for a new owner, we will happily add it to the All Souls Coat Drive being held in partnership with the Flaherty Elementary School of Braintree. Once collected and cleaned, coats are distributed at no cost through Coats for Kids in New England. Coats should be in good, wearable condition. Please only donate coats you would give a friend; no rips/tears, broken zippers, and/or permanent stains. And please be sure to empty out all pockets! Coats are only being collected at All Souls during the Dickens Festival on Saturday, November 23, from 10 am to 3 pm.
The Dickens Festival is known for its fun atmosphere, unique gifts and quality, handmade merchandise. Come to the Dickens Festival for some old fashioned spirit to start of your holiday season!
