Composer Derek David paints a musical portrait of Jewish Identity reflecting upon Yiddish culture in a contemporary landscape.
Derek is a composer, conductor, & music educator based in Boston. He received his Masters & Doctoral degrees from The New England Conservatory.
This Performance features the full premiere of Derek’s Clarinet Quintet “Oh World, Goodnight” by Del Sol & Andrew Friedman, & the premiere of String Quartet No. 4 “Kaddish” with Verona Quartet.
Vocals include a performance of Four Yiddish Folksongs featuring members of Ezekiel’s Wheels Klezmer Band, choral works with A Besere Velt, the world’s largest Yiddish chorus & other Musicians.
