Join us in the gallery for an evening with Deb Talan, an American singer-songwriter best known for being part of the folk-pop duo the Weepies. Born in Western Massachusetts, Deb Talan has been writing songs since she was 14 years old. Playing clarinet, piano, and guitar throughout her childhood and early adulthood, Talan started a band in Portland, Oregon with her friend Mark, named Hummingfish.
After moving back to the east coast, Talan began playing solo in Boston coffee houses, opened shows for Catie Curtis (a songwriter hero of hers) met up with Steve Tannen and formed The Weepies. The duo played shows all over the country and the world.
After making 5 records in Los Angeles, surviving breast cancer, and grappling with mental health issues, Talan has a lot she could say these days. She prefers to listen. But playing songs for people is a close second. For Deb Talan, music heals.
