In 01995, Danny Hillis (www.longnow.org/people/board/danny0/) envisioned a mechanical clock that would tick 10,000 times—once per year, for 10,000 years. Two decades later, his vision is becoming a reality.
On May 4, 02016, at The Venture Cafe, Danny—a well-known technologist and the cofounder of The Long Now Foundation—will discuss the 10,000 Year Clock, “a monument scale, multi-millennial, all mechanical clock created as an icon to long term thinking,” and currently being constructed inside a mountain in Texas.
Donation: $15 on the Long Now Boston Meetup site (www.meetup.com/long-now-boston). Only 125 tickets will be sold. Limited seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis; the rest is standing room only.
